INDUSTRY ADVISORY BOARDS

"We have found the best workforce-development solutions happen when leading employers come together to address the talent problem for an entire sector.”

In line with this observation the IAAE® establishes industry-sector advisory boards to ensure that skill needs and technology trends relevant to the profession of Automation and common to each industry-sector are well defined.

Automation impacts multiple industry sectors. However, the landscape of automation systems changes with each vertical. Automation is also a multidisciplinary profession. Individuals often need expertise in systems engineering, control engineering, mechatronics, robotics, information technology, and more. The role competencies and the related technologies used are best defined by industry sector. To define more narrowly would benefit too small a constituency and to define more broadly would necessitate expertise far beyond what could reasonably be expected.

LIFE SCIENCES ADVISORY BOARD

The IAAE® Life Sciences Advisory Board has active participation from companies such as GSK, Merck, Pfizer, Sanofi, and Shire. Each multinational company is represented by an individual well acquainted with the capabilities and future needs for their organization. For such manufacturers, automation is the key driver to both enhanced productivity and higher quality in the medicines they bring to patients.

The advisory board member companies are keenly aware that automation knowledge is leaving their industry and that the rate of loss will be accelerating in the next decade. These companies have to replenish that skill set to remain globally competitive. For them, partnership with the IAAE® is a way to voice their needs to academia and other stakeholders.

Representation of such companies is essential. It ensures all courses recommended by the IAAE® through strategic partners are well aligned with future industry needs. It also means that the IAAE® certification exams benchmark ability in a way that significantly assists all Life Sciences companies in their hiring practices.

This ensures that the courses designed and offered to both students as well as existing employees are aligned with future industry needs and that the IAAE® certification exams benchmark ability in a way that benefits their hiring practices.
